Dr. McCoy’s OrthoFx NiTime Clear Aligner Tips & Tricks

Dr. McCoy has chosen to exclusively offer OrthoFx NiTime clear aligners to all of his patients so you never have to wear your aligners outside of the house!

Nothing you know about orthodontics and clear aligners is the same.

  • No more cooperation issues, even with teenagers.
  • No more fights at home.
  • No more pain.
  • No more soft diets and making two meals because of painful teeth.
  • No more taking your aligners out every time you want to eat or drink.
  • No more lost aligners, because they’re only worn at home.

Everyone can now do clear aligners, even teenagers, without their parents worrying that they won’t wear them enough.  No more having to choose the pain of braces just because your child may not wear aligners at school because they don’t have to, anymore.

After dinner, brush your teeth and put your NiTime aligners in and wear them until the morning and then leave them at home until after dinner again!

The same person who invented Invisalign has made it so much better with NiTime aligners.

Just wearing your NiTime aligners 9-12 hours works better than the 22-24 hours needed with Invisalign and all the other clear aligners.

Dr. McCoy is the only Chicagoland orthodontist exclusively offering NiTime clear aligners for all of his patients.

ISN’T CLEAR ALIGNER TREATMENT THE SAME EVERYWHERE?

Dr. McCoy was one of the very first clear aligner orthodontists in Chicago and has been doing Invisalign treatment for over 25 years – as long as the company has been in existence!  Now, it’s even better.

You will find nobody has more Clear Aligner experience than Dr. McCoy, who can do clear aligner treatment on ANY patient, even those told by other doctors that they cannot do clear aligner treatment.

This is a great short video to help you learn how revolutionary OrthoFx NiTime Clear Aligners truly are:

OrthoFx NiTime Clear Aligner Tips and Tricks

Wear your NiTime Clear Aligners about 9-12 hours a day.

You don’t have to wear your NiTime clear aligners for 22 hours per day like Invisalign patients.

Your goal is 9-12 continuous hours per day.

We tell our patients to brush their teeth after dinner and put their NiTime aligners in and wear them until the morning, sleeping with them in.

Take them out and put them in their case and repeat that evening.

Wearing them to school or work will not make your teeth move faster, so don’t bother.  However, if you find it comfortable to wear them more, just don’t eat or drink anything but water with them in your mouth.

What a relief that these new, third generation NiTime clear aligners invented by the same person who invented Invisalign 25 years ago work beautifully just at home.

There is no pain with OrthoFx YourTime clear aligners, since they are more gentle than Invisalign clear aligners and certainly more gentle that braces.

Orthodontic treatment does not have to hurt, anymore!

No more need to eat soft foods because your teeth hurt.

If you do experience any discomfort, call us immediately and ask about getting a magic wand that eliminates pain.  Dr. McCoy is the only doctor in Chicago using this.  So, nothing should hurt, unlike at other offices.

Change to the next aligner every week.

You don’t need to wear the same NiTime aligner more than a week.  Go to the next one in your series.  Wearing the same aligner more than a week won’t do you any good.  Pick a day that works for you to change aligners, even if, at the beginning, you wear the first one a bit longer to get to your chosen day.  Make this work for you!

Always wear your current aligner to your appointment.

We can’t check if your aligners fit if you don’t bring them to every visit.  This is very important!  You are coming for an aligner fit check.  So, always bring your aligners for your fit check appointments, even though you’re not used to wearing your aligners outside of the house.  Bring them to your appointments, please!

Losing or breaking aligners.

If you lose or break an aligner, don’t worry.  Just start to wear the next aligner in the series.  Wear that new aligner for at least a week and then, as always, go to the next aligner.

Dealing with uncomfortable areas of the aligners.

On occasion, you may feel that an area of the aligner feels rough to your gums, cheek or tongue.  If this does happen, just use a nail file and gently file the area that is rough.  If it continues to bother you, trim a small amount away with small scissors and file again.  You can always come in if you can’t get the aligner comfortable.  We would love to help you!

Keeping your aligners clean and fresh.

The best way to keep your aligners clean and tasting fresh is to make sure to brush your teeth and your aligners before you put them in.  If they start to taste bad, you can soak them in clear mouth wash (colored mouth wash will stain them) and if necessary, brush them gently with a soft toothbrush soaked in your clear mouth wash.

I’m having difficulty putting aligners in or taking them out.

If one side of your aligner goes in but the other side doesn’t, take the whole aligner out again and seat the difficult side first.  The other side will then just pop right in!  The same holds for removal.  Remove from the tongue side and flip them out.  If the side you started on is difficult to get out, don’t keep struggling.  Go to the other side.  Once that side is out, the difficult side will be easier to remove.  Simple!

At the end of every even numbered aligner, you will send us photos using the OrthoFx app so Dr. McCoy can check your progress.

Dr. McCoy will keep a close eye on your progress at the end of every even numbered aligner, so every two weeks.  Just use the app and upload photos and Dr. McCoy will know how your treatment is progressing.  We will also see you in the office from time to time, and any time you wish to come in.

Thank you for beginning treatment with Dr. McCoy!

You will love your OrthoFx NiTime Clear Aligners and your new smile!  Please feel free to contact us via email at any point in your treatment if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dr. McCoy and Staff
